Quick Draw: The Basics of How To Draw From A Photo

For those who wish to draw along, make sure to bring
1. Pencil (If they want to get fancy they can have a hard pencil and a soft pencil. Ex: HB and 4B)
2. Paper (a couple of sheets would be perfect)
3. A ruler, or straight edge

Laura Spector is a fellow of the New York Foundation for the Arts, a recipient of an individual grant award from the Houston Arts Alliance and Artist-in-Residence recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation. She exhibited at Grand Rapids Art Museum in 2016, FotoFest 2014 and in Lawndale Art Center’s “Big Show” in 2013 and 2017. Her work has been featured in R2: The Rice Review, The Harvard Review, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and “The Real Real Thing: The Model in the Mirror of Art.” She has studied fine art at both the Flemish Classical Atelier in Belgium and Virginia Commonwealth University and was a resident artist at Atelierhaus Hilmsen in 2016. Her artwork can be seen in exhibitions and collections around the world. She currently teaches courses online via her own studio, Glasscock School for Continuing Studies at Rice University, and Art League Houston. See more at LauraSpector.com

Music: David Dietz

Cellist David Dietz has performed across the US and Europe and is equally comfortable in Solo, Chamber and Orchestral settings. Currently residing in Houston, Texas, David is pursuing a Master's degree at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Desmond Hoebig.
