Joey will speak on the diversity of the Houston scene and how the legacy of Selena ties in so strongly into Houston culture. He will also talk about his work with Pride Superstar.
Speaker Bio:
Joey Guerra is the music critic for the Houston Chronicle. He also covers various aspects of pop culture and Houston’s LGBTQ commnity. He has reviewed hundreds of concerts and interviewed hundreds of celebrities, from Justin Bieber to Dolly Parton to Beyonce. He’s appeared as a regular correspondent on Fox26 and was head judge and director of the Pride Superstar singing competition for a decade. He has been named journalist of the year multiple times by both OutSmart Magazine and the FACE Awards. He covers various aspects of pop culture, including the local drag scene and "RuPaul's Drag Race." He started the Chronicle Concerts series in March as a way to spotlight musicians who could not perform live because of the coronavirus. It is still running weekly, 11 a.m. Fridays at facebook.com/previewhouston. He also hosts regular video segments - and has reviewed approximately 500 RodeoHouston shows.
Muscians Bio:
Willy T Golden is a multi instrumentalist, that plays lap steel, dobro, pedal steel, guitar and banjo. He likes dingy acoustic cafes, all ages punk clubs, and Coca~Cola, but he knows that Coca~Cola is not good for him.Willy T has been a member of the Louisiana Roots band The Bluerunners and can currently be seen with Houston acts Charlie and the Regrets, D.Kosmo, Mas Pulpo, Chad Ware, Brant Croucher, Brad Boyer, Sean Reefer and the Resin Valley Boys, Tremoloco, among other.
